Salah signs Liverpool extension, dismissing Saudi speculation as 'noise'

The Egyptian forward, who called Saudi interest 'noise,' will remain at Anfield through at least the summer of 2027 under a newly signed extension.

Mohamed Salah has signed a contract extension with Liverpool that will keep him at the club through at least the summer of 2027, Liverpool announced at Anfield, where Salah appeared alongside manager Arne Slot.

Salah addressed speculation about a potential move to Saudi Arabia, which had circulated publicly for several months. 'It was always going to be Liverpool,' Mr. Salah said. His agent confirmed that approaches had been received. 'There were approaches. He was not interested,' the agent said.

Liverpool sporting director Michael Edwards said the club had received informal enquiries from Saudi clubs but had not entered substantive negotiations and had communicated that Salah was unavailable. 'There was never a real moment where we thought this could happen,' Mr. Edwards said.

Salah, who appeared at the AXA Training Centre for full sessions on Monday and Tuesday and attended a club charity event with his family on Tuesday evening, has scored 214 goals for Liverpool in all competitions and is 12 goals short of the club's all-time Premier League scoring record.

The extension means Salah will have the opportunity to surpass that record during his remaining time at the club. Slot did not provide detail on the specific terms of the extension beyond its duration.
